We went through a forest that had been burned quite a while ago--the vegetation had already begun to recover
Wildflowers littered the path. There were baby meadows of wildflowers where periwinkle butterflies fluttered about, never slowing down for a picture. I thought these spots were magical : )
When the trail was flat, we giddy-uped to improve our time.
Finally, we reached Cottonwood Meadow. It was peaceful, vibrantly green, and eerily still. And, it wasn't on our map. And, our trail mysteriously ended there.
Here's Diana!
From there we wandered for roughly 45 minutes trying to find the trail again, to no avail. So we turned around. Kind of anti-climactic? Purdy much. : ) The hike was still fun, none the less. Smith's Peak, just you wait. We will conquer you another day.
